Paul Norrish of Tobys Reclamation Exeter came to us for some ideas on his recent vehicle, a 1923 Model T Ford. 

 

Based in a former Victorian railway station next to the Swans Nest Pub in Exminster, Tobys are able to supply any item needed to renovate, restore and furnish your period home. Tobys is the perfect place to find what you are looking for, whether you are restoring a period property 'browsing amongst the craftsmanship of our forefathers, or just a fascinating day out.' 

 

Paul wanted the graphics to be in harmony with the traditional look of the van. Vinyl graphics were used instead of paint just in case he wanted to change anything in the future.

For over ten years Firewatch SW have been hosting charity golf days, located in Devon for customers, suppliers and friends of the Firewatch Group. 

 

Martin Smith CEO of FWG and organiser has set the date for a new golf day, “Martin explained that he and his fellow Directors, particularly Cornishman Max Willey, were aware that the FWG had not had the opportunity to schedule an event for clients based in Cornwall, the annual golf day in the summer made it difficult for many to attend. He further explained that the days proceeds will be donated to Cornwall Hospice Care” this will separate from the other charities we support. 

 

The golf day will take place on April 25th at Whitsands Bay, Nr. St Germans Cornwall. Read more here...

In 2011 the Firewatch Group raised nearly £10,000 for its nominated charities the Devon Air Ambulance Trust and the South West MS Centre. 

 

For 2012 we have nominated the West of England School and College, the leading regional centre for young people with little or no sight, based in Exeter. They provide education, health, care, therapy and mobility to ensure that learners receive the highest quality services including: 

 

 

Many young people attending the West of England School and College have severe and complex needs as well as visual impairment. The aim is to develop their independence so that they grow academically and socially, whatever their ability. Each learner is given a personalised curriculum designed to meet their individual learning and care needs. 

 

Our other charity is Steps based in Torquay and UK registered. It aims to make every day a play day for children and young people who cannot play independently. 

Mainstream toys are adapted so that with a special external switch, individuals can play with the toys by switching them on, by blowing, sucking, bashing, squeezing or pressing the switch…whatever movement remains to the individual. 

 

Steps staff try hard to match the individual with an external switch maximising their available movement. Steps have just celebrated 20 years of its adapted developmental toy and switch lending library service. 

 

The proceeds of our annual golf day July 20th at Dainton Park near Newton Abbot will be the main fund raiser, as well as a function towards the end of the year.
